Why should YOU participate in our
NORMI National IAQ Screening Project?
NORMI IAQ Management Program
"There are NO Magic Wands"
|
When you complete the IAQ Survey, you will then sample your home for indoor air
contaminants. In our experience everyone who has filled out the IAQ survey rated the air quality within their homes at less than 10. Many people believe the air in your homes is making you or
members of your family sick. We wish we could tell you that there is a magic wand out there that would make the air in your home perfect. There sure have been a lot of advertising dollars
spent on trying to make people believe in magic IAQ wands, but it's just not true. The fact is homes are very complicated environments with many factors contributing to poor indoor air. If
you really want to improve your indoor air you have to address all of the contributing factors, not just one. Developing a total solution to your indoor air quality problems is called a
wholistic approach and that is what we are prepared to do for you.
To embrace your home in a wholistic manner, three distinct areas must be considered. They are your air conveyance systems, general living areas, and bedrooms/bathrooms and moisture prone
areas. Air conveyance systems include heating, cooling, and ventilating systems. Next your general living areas include your dens, living rooms, family rooms, kitchen/breakfast areas, and
entertainment rooms. These are generally the larger areas of the home. And third, bedrooms, bathrooms, moisture prone or secondary environments, like basements. These areas will be addressed
as individual living environments because they are often problematic and need to be addressed individually.
With your help, we will, together, assess all of these areas. There are two
assessment methods commonly used by environmental consultants when developing solutions for indoor air quality problems. They are visual assessments and laboratory assessments. We will use
both of these methods when we deliver your laboratory report and develop your IAQ profile sheet. The profile sheet will also include a blueprint of physical and mechanical solutions to
improve and maintain your indoor air quality. The goal is to provide you with a wholistic system that will maintain a ten rating on your next IAQ survey sheet.
Some choose to invest in the total IAQ blue print immediately while others invest in the total plan over a set period of time. We will develop a plan for you to take care of the most
important IAQ issues first, and then develop a budget and timeline for you to attain all of your IAQ goals.
We will also give you an IAQ maintenance checklist. Maintenance and
housekeeping are very important part of any IAQ program. We encourage you to use the IAQ maintenance checklist each month to confirm that you are maintaining good air quality throughout your
living environment. This program requires you to participate in your helping you and your family by rolling up your sleeves and applying a little elbow grease. Poor indoor air quality comes
with a price tag. That price is upper respiratory discomfort or sickness, watery eyes, itchy skin, headaches, lack of sleep, fatigue, etc. Investing your time and energy into the IAQ
maintenance checklist is a very important part of reversing poor indoor air quality.
Thank you for participating in the NORMI National IAQ Screening Project. Remember, magic wands are great in fairy tales, but IAQ management systems, time tables and budgets work much
better in real life. You have taken a great first step in having your environment assessed. As soon as we receive your survey, assessment and the laboratory report, we will call you to set up
a meeting. If you have any questions between now and then please do not hesitate to contact me.
